Specialized Transport

Phoenix Air’s Gulfstream G-III aircraft with the factory cargo door and large cabin provide the capability to accommodate clients with unique requirements. Some examples of past transports include multiple patient movements (up to 5 stretchers), Bariatric patients, patients requiring extensive support equipment, large/heavy equipment and multiple medical crew members (up to 8).

The modular interior can be reconfigured for multiple applications due to a special FAA certification, uncommon in aircraft used for air ambulance operations.

Examples of previous transports include multiple movements of pediatric patients from Japan to the US and Canada requiring large Berlin Heart LVAD units with a 6-person medical team and family members. Another trip involved the complicated non-stop movement of an adult patient on a 500-pound, non-standard ECMO unit from Hawaii to Iowa with a 7-person medical team. At the time, it was the world’s longest transport of an adult ECMO patient.
